After selling out her 20-city US Tour in days, Sexyy Red is adding more cities to the tour, and moving to larger venues on the existing tour. The Rave/Eagles Club has been added to that tour with a date in The Spectacular Eagles Ballroom on November 2nd.
Her whole life, Sexyy Red knew she'd be in the spotlight. Who could tell her otherwise? A true Aries, she's always believed in the unbelievable.
With explicit lyricism reminiscent of Trina, the raw storytelling of Boosie Badazz and Webbie, and Chief Keef's rugged authenticity, Sexyy Red's raunchy, in-your-face style taps into a strain of hilarious and animated rap the game has been missing since the heyday of Gucci Mane. But don't get it twisted – as the main creative force of her own songs, lyrics, and videos, her music is only ever 100% Sexyy.
'Red,' a nickname she earned in middle school thanks to her vibrant, colorful hairstyles, grew up in North St. Louis, where she would get into trouble sneaking into stripclubs with her older sisters' IDs. Her high school classmates knew she'd be a rapper before she knew it herself — with a larger-than-life personality and flashy style, she was already a local phenom. Red didn't give rap much thought until 2018, when she penned a diss track aimed at her own boyfriend. After hearing the reaction of his friends, Red was emboldened to record her first-ever song: an unruly remix of FBG Duck's "Slide" that positioned men as only being good for money and pleasure. She started making noise nationally soon after, with her own art-directed video for the viral "Northside."
Red's genuine and fun-loving personality converted many fans into friends since 2018, like fellow sex-rap auteur Sukihana (Sexyy and Suki released the YouTube-viral Vine-referencing "Born By the River" in 2022) and Summer Walker (who gave Sexyy her first high-profile cameo with "Sense Dat God Gave You" the same year). She also drew the attention of Tay Keith, whose dark beat for "Pound Town" was a whimsical canvas for Sexyy's freestyled anthem. But Sexyy stamped the song, putting a wild, widely relatable feeling to music most would be too scared to say out loud.
This is just the start of a thrilling 2023 for Sexyy Red, who called every shot she made since high school — including the success of her latest single. Don't try to predict where she's going next; Sexyy Red will tell you herself.
