FM 106.1 presents
Cody Johnson
Saturday, February 5, 2022 8pm
with Ian Munsick

It's almost effortless to take the little moments for granted and put our dreams on hold trying to keep afloat in the fast-paced world we live in, until we are left looking back at those moments after they're gone. Cody Johnson's new single, "'Til You Can't," penned by Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers, reminds us that we only have so much time in this life to take that fishing trip with our dad or chase after the girl of our dreams before it's too late. The track starts out slowly with the first verse, "You can tell your old man / You'll do some largemouth fishing another time / You just got too much on your plate to bait and cast a line / You can always put a rain check in his hand / 'Til you can't / You can keep putting off forever with that girl who's heart you hold / Swearing that you'll ask someday further down the road / You can always put a diamond on her hand / 'Til you can't."

The 3:39 gem gathers speed as it transitions to the chorus, emphasizing with its lyrics the importance of recognizing that none of us is guaranteed tomorrow, so take the chance, chase the dream, say the things you need to say and hold the people you love closely. "Don't wait on tomorrow 'cause tomorrow may not show / Say your sorries, your I-love-yous, 'cause man you never know," he sings. When asked about his reason for cutting the song, Johnson said, “I chose to record ‘'Til You Can’t’ first because of the positivity in the message ... In our world today, we could use more positivity. Secondly, because of how dynamic the melody was. I took it and ran with it. I hope y’all enjoy!”
